Running Buddies to be featured at offsite adoption events around town
25/04/2008 01:30 Filed in: Other News
If you've read the Livvy updates you already know
that APA has teamed with a local rescue group to take
many of the long-stay dogs at TLAC to offsite
adoption events. These events will let a lot more
people meet the dogs and increase their chances of
adoption. Some of the dogs won't return to the
shelter but will live in foster homes. This is great
news, but it means that you might not be able to find
the running or walking buddy you saw advertised on a
flyer when you get to the shelter. I thought our
existing pet events calendar would be a good way to
let people know where to find our featured dogs that
are participating in this new program. I've given the
calendar it's own page so you can actually see the
entries. You can check the calendar here, or you can
subscribe to it.

4/21/2008 UPDATE: Austin Pets Alive! and CNC Rescue
have joined together to start an off-site adoption
program for long-stay dogs at Town Lake Animal
Center. Livvy will be the first dog in this special
program. Because of her short deadline, APA has taken
Livvy into one of their foster homes. Livvy is doing
great there and is even getting along well with other
dogs and interacting well with children. She will go
to an adoption event at a local Petco or Petsmart
daily until a permanent home is found. To meet Livvy,
email pass@austinpetsalive.org or call 512-689-1885.

Livvy needs a home by April 22

4/14/2008 UPDATE:
Livvy is having a hard time at the shelter. Her
behavior is starting to deteriorate. Staff have given
her a deadline of April 22 to find a home. Livvy is
very responsive to strong leadership and learns
quickly. She will need help learning not to be too
bossy towards other dogs, and to share her treats and
toys nicely. She would do best as an only dog in a
home with no young children. Low cost training
options will be available for Livvy.
