Nico - Available
Don't be
fooled by my macho good looks. I'm a mellow fellow
with impeccable manners and a love for long trail
runs. My other interests include blowing bubbles in
chest-high water, being polite to every animal I
encounter and hanging out with humans who appreciate
what a well-behaved boy I am. Please give me the
loving, lifelong home I deserve.
Note: Nico was adopted and returned when his adopters
discovered they were allergic to him. They had
nothing but good things to say about this charming,
playful boy.

Billy Jean - adopted 8/2008
I’m just a young girl, but I was fending for myself when a Good Samaritan brought me to the shelter. I hope someone will see I'm special enough to take home for keeps. I love people, and I’m always ready to play with other dogs I enjoy walks and the water. I can sit, and I’m ready to learn anything else you want to teach me. Take me home, and let’s start a life of fun and love together.

Scully - Adopted 7/26/2008
Scully is nonstop fun and excitement. This go-go girl is always up for some play time, even on the hot summer days. Scully loves, loves, loves playing in the water. You can entertain yourself for hours throwing her toys in the pool and watching her retrieve them one by one. She will even fish treats off the bottom of the pool, plunging her whole head underwater. If you are an active and fun-loving person who loves water sports, then this exuberant young pit may be the perfect dog for you. And don’t let her barking fool you, Scully plays well with most other dogs.

Arlo - ADOPTED 4/6/2008!

Arlo was at the shelter for almost 2 months, and the stress was just too much for him. Poor Arlo got very anxious and barked when he was cooped up in a cage all day, and he started being alternately fearful or aggressive towards the vet staff. The staff believed it was not fair to keep Arlo at the shelter when he was so stressed there. So they gave Arlo a one week deadline to find a rescue group to foster him. When he was feeling secure, Arlo was a delightfully different dog. Arlo was affectionate, loved walks, did well on a leash (he was a regular on the hike and bike trail) and would happily plop down beside you for a break -- perhaps keeping one paw on you, just to make sure you were still there. He loved treats, but most of all, he adored being with his own special person. Arlo got his first miracle when a TLAC volunteer stepped forward to save him by providing Arlo a temporary foster home. The dog experts at Lee Mannix evaluated Arlo and they believed his negative behavior was the result of extreme insecurity. They believed he had a lot of potential if someone would be willing to be patient and put in the work it would take to help him learn confidence and appropriate reactions to frightening or stressful situations. So there was hope for Arlo if we could find the right person. Well another miracle happened. Arlo was going to Taurus Training and Daycare every day. He did so well there that one of the staff members fell in love with him! Arlo will now have a permanent home where he can be with his special person every day and get all the training he needs to be the wonderful dog he was meant to be.
